We’re back! Our heartfelt thanks for your support throughout Season 18, Finding Forward, 2020-21. We couldn't have done it without you, and we are so grateful!
Creativity was not cancelled for Backhausdance with all of the challenges of the global pandemic, as we quickly adapted to a new virtual world, expanding our capacity to reach a wider community than ever before.

Highlights of the season included BD Online: Move With Us; the premiere of g r o u n d e d .; virtual education residencies with several Orange County and Palm Desert elementary, middle and high schools; the new screen dance creation with the Orange County Museum of Art, Backhausdance With(in): Mesh, our first live, outdoor performance, Spring Forward, performed with Block x Block, at the Muckenthaler Cultural Center on May 1st, and the launch of a new ballet and creative dance program for Santa Ana youth called Moving Santa Ana, starting virtually and now in a live format. We enjoyed 'seeing' you on our livestream programs! Along with your valuable donations we secured the Payroll Protection Program funding, state and local COVID-19 arts relief grants as well as funding from the City of Santa Ana Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency to continue our operations and mission. Now it's time to continue!
Season 18 concluded with our 17th Annual Summer Dance Intensive program (live and virtual), held at South Coast Conservatory in Laguna Niguel, with over 150 students participating over 3 weeks. It was uplifting for everyone to return to the studio and to create new work (outdoors).
As we move into the fall, and start rehearsing, we have some exciting new announcements and additions to our creative team that we will be sharing... so stay tuned to see our new Season 19 photos and meet our new artists and members of the administrative team.
